In Phoenix for training... hotel is nice, but I have no friends. :(

You know how in California, people have flowers and bushes and trees in their front lawn? Here they have palm trees and HUGE cacti (is that the plural for cactus?). It's kind of funny...

And everywhere you look, there's a golf course. There's a golf course attached to the hotel. I guess there's some big golf tournament this week in Phoenix? I don't play golf so I could care less. hahaha.

STOP IT!

Thursday, January 22, 2004

I got the nicest "wrong number" call yesterday.

I missed a call on my cell phone yesterday. And usually, if I don't recognize the number, I just let it be. I figure, they'll call back. But then, I was just curious so I called back.

"Hello, this is Chris, did someone call me?"

"Hold on... (did anyone call Chris?) No. No. No. No. (30 second pause) Hold on, he's outside. (30 second pause)"

"Hello? Who's this?" [So this guy's voice was really deep and it sounded like Kenneth. I thought he was just messing with me. Haha]

"This is Chris. Who's this?"

"This is the guy that dialed the wrong number. Sorry about that."

"Haha. It's ok"

"So... when can we meet?"

"..... uh...."

"haha. I'm just playing with you. Have a good night."

"Good night"

Kickboxing kicked my butt.
I'm going back. :D

I saw the cute guy at work in the elevator this morning. My day is off to a good start. HaHaHaHa.

Yesterday at church, my friend looked at my clothes and called me an ajumma. I need to stop dressing like I'm so old.
My sister just came back from an extended vacation in Korea. Some things she brought back for me:

- Jacket with fur lining on the hood
- 2 bags
- cool watch
- eyeshadows
- lipgloss
- wallet

Thanks to Gower and Sylvia for a great phone call last night. :) I miss you guys...

I think I have a very generic face. Easy to forget and gets lost in the crowd. People meet me for the "first time" 3 times on average. (Have you guys met? Um.. don't think so.. *YES WE HAVE!!!!!*) But also because I've had a lot of people tell me I look like someone they know.

Yesterday on my way home, this girl gets on my train, looks at me, and says "Oh, HEY~!" Then she realizes she doesn't know me after all so she gets really embarassed and covers her mouth with her hand. It was funny... I could relate. I just had to smile.

Work has been picking up. I actually stayed at work till a normal hour doing actual work yesterday. And I signed online later than usual today. Aren't you proud of me? ;)

I had dinner with Sarah yesterday. Roy's. Really good food. So we part at the station and she heads over to BART and I head towards MUNI. I was walking down the stairs when I spot my train. So I start running, and the driver sees me, so I think he holds the door open an extra second. So now I'm proud of myself for running and catching the train and try to get comfortable in my seat... only I find out I'm going the wrong way.

Had to get off and walk to the other side. My only consolation was that in a way, I was on the right train. Because we were at the last stop and that train needed to turn around. I tried not making eye contact with the driver.

Read the title (in korean)... I laughed out loud at work because of this:

HaHaHa

If you don't sign up for NY Times, you can't read it... so the title of the article is:
"Tests Suggest Scientist Have Found Big Bang Goo"
It's funny how I just can't picture my parents having a social life. In my mind, they just stay at home. But the last few weeks, I've hardly seen them. They go and do a lot of church stuff... but they also go meet up with their other pastor friends.

I don't think I give my parents the same amount of freedom they give me. If it's 7 or 8pm, and my parents still aren't home, I'll call them on their cell phone and ask where they are. Haha...

My parents go out, and I stay at home. How sad is that.

Wowee. Today may be my busiest day at work yet!! I had a conference call this morning, and I have a seminar and another conference call lined up for this afternoon. Not to mention I still have online training to complete.

But I'm online writing this, so you can figure out what kind of life I lead at work.

Oh yeah, I went running yesterday after work. I was inspired by Kenneth's comment, and also when I called Gower a while back, her roommate told me she went out running. If a stick like Gower is out running, I need to get a move on!! ;) (love you, Gower... no offense by the stick comment) haha

Chicago was a lot of fun. Northwestern is a beautiful campus. Thought about Kellog's Business School in the future, but might need to rethink that on account of the weather. Apparently, it warmed up 20 degrees right when I got there, but I was still cold.

Highlights:
- Taking the "el" by myself from the airport to Northwestern and not getting lost
- Looking at Julie's and Elizabeth's pictures from Indonesia
- Northwestern's food court... amazing!!!
- Art Institute of Chicago
- Pizza
- Catching snowflakes on my tongue... or trying to
- Looking at the Chicago skyline from campus
- Making snow angels
- Inter Varsity
- Big Fish
- the Magnificent Mile. Shopping on Michigan Ave... a mile long of great stores (only downside, they didn't have Sephora)
- Lounging on the 96th floor of the John Hancock Building
- New Community Covenant Church

Lowlights:
- The wind
- My luggage didn't make it back to SFO with me (boooo)

I was so tired yesterday when I got home from work that I took a nap. Felt great!! But realized I shouldn't do that often, because by the time I wake up and eat dinner, my whole night is gone!

TV night was NOT satisfying. '24' was eh... not too much happened this episode. And Michelle made Tony mad. Not good. Real World... let's just say I like the Paris one much better. Queer Eye was a rerun.

I'm going to Chicago tomorrow~! Yay!

Man... I have 1 year to lose weight, but it's off to a rocky start. Pilates, here I come...

This made me feel extra hopeful about losing weight...

Don't bother working your abs more often. It takes 250,000 crunches to burn 1 pound of fat -- that's about 100 crunches a day for 7 years.

Sheesh.

I tried researching some kickboxing classes... anyone have any suggestions on classes in SF?

I never go in the first stall of a public bathroom, if I have a choice. I didn't like psychology when I took it in college, but I think this is Pavlov's law at work. (That dog salivating every time a bell rings).

I've been conditioned to avoid the first stall living in the dorms during my first year in college. The first stall was understood as the stinky-seat-never-goes-down stall. Didn't know that, and unlucky me, found out on the very same day that the guys using that stall never close the door either.

But I thought I'd share this phenomenon, since every time I go to the bathroom at work, I always find myself heading for the second stall.

I went to Teriyaki Express for lunch today. I go there a lot, since the kwon-sa-nim at my church owns it and always hooks it up. :)

It's really funny watching how caucasian people eat the rice. I guess they're just used to seasoned rice. Because when they get their plate, they drizzle soy sauce all over the rice. That always confused me... if you're eating teriyaki chicken, use the teriyaki sauce!
And it's not just one person that does this. Every time I go, while I wait for my food, I see at least 3 people doing this.

Soy sauce on rice... that only works when there's an egg in there.
