Ping Pong champs Posted by Picasa

It's true. Good things keep rolling my way. Totally don't deserve it and this is just a reminder to myself to deflate the head and give thanks to God. Give thanks in good and bad times... that's a difficult lesson I need to learn.

I think most of my girlfriends laughed when I told them I was in a ping-pong tournament. Comments such as, "oh my gosh, chris," "that's so dorky," and "are you serious"? were all too common. Didn't get to practice too much because the only time is during the weekend at church and I've been travelling.

The tournament was in San Jose this past Sunday and there was mad traffic on the freeway. Got calls nonstop telling me and my JDSN they were starting and that we had to get our butts there quickly. Ran into the church and played our first game. We got creamed.

But we worked our way up... to play that first team again in the finals. This time we were warmed up and we won 1st place! My JDSN also won 1st for women's single.

My mom is the ringleader in making fun of my form. I play like an ajumma (and not the good kind), and my JDSN plays ping pong like tennis. But hey, I say as long as it goes over and we get the job done, it's all good. :)

My cousin is funny. She told us a joke/saying from Korea...

...that girls are like Christmas cakes.
On the 23rd, they sell like hotcakes
By 24, there are still a good number of sales, but not as many as at 23
At 25, only a few sales... for the last minute shoppers
By 26, you're expired and no one wants you.

Her way of hinting... hurry up and do something before you hit your expiration date.

Really mean, but I was laughing my head off.

I think one of the worst forms of torture is not letting someone go to sleep. My cousin just flew in from Korea yesterday morning. She was knocked out by 7pm. So much so that she started dozing off after she took a bite of dinner. So she said she'd sleep for 1 hour, but she ended up just sleeping through the night. Woke me up at 6am this morning.

I had her talk to my brother on the phone yesterday. Kind of awkward, but kind of cute. They haven't seen each other in 13 years. I like it that she calls him "oppa-yah."

We would joke about that in Korea a lot. How the word "oppa" can be so affectionate and at the same time give you goosebumps (not the good kind). Creeps me out a little bit when ajummas call their husbands oppa. haha.

This post is all over the place. I will end with one more random note. I passed my last 2 exams. :)

Back from DC and Napa. Super fun. Don't want to be at work... but at least it's a short week.

Had a lot of fun running around DC with Izzie and Janet. Thanks to Sunny for meeting up with us. My friends are super cool. Isabel showed signs of being almost narcoleptic. And she has a funny tan line. I didn't post a picture because I want to be nice. But it's hilarious.

Napa was relaxing. I still can't drink/appreciate wine. I'd like to, because it's such a social thing to do, but I can't stand the taste. Sarah and I got hydrotherapy baths and massages. Man... I almost fell asleep. It felt so nice. Definitely going back and doing it again.

Now I have to catch up on some work. I have to go to Stockton next week. Fun... not really. I hope it's not hot. I'm done with hot weather.

And my cousin is here visiting from Korea. Time to act like a tourist. :)
